This guide is intended to help Le Moyne students prepare for online/remote coursework. In following the guide, a student will verify that their personal computing environment satisfies minimum technical requirements and confirm access to a variety of online learning tools.  You will also find information on the support available to students who need to take classes online.  These support services are available to students studying online or remotely via appointments, email, phone, zoom and other means of video conferencing.

Ready your Computer gives you the steps to ensure that your personal computer meets Le Moyne’s secure computing requirements. If you find that you are unable to complete any steps below or your device does not meet the minimum requirements, please contact the IT Service Desk at https://servicedesk.lemoyne.edu before beginning remote learning.

Use the recommended Internet speed of 10Mbps or higher.

If you have less than the recommendations you may be still be able to study, however you may experience inerruptions or issues with Le Moyne systems.

Test your internet speed 

 

Follow these recommended specifications for a personal computer.  

  • 7th Generation Core i5 processor or equivalent 

  • 8GB of RAM

  • 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD)

  • 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) Display

Email: If you cannot sign in to submit a request, you can alternatively email [email protected] from your Le Moyne email account or, if you do not have access to your Le Moyne email, a personal email account.   1. Phone: Please call 315-445-4579 and leave a voicemail if necessary. Note that in the event that the college is operating remotely, this will not be checked as frequently as the IT Service Desk website or email. When leaving a voicemail, please include your full name and a phone number that you can be reached at.

  2. In Person: To visit us in person, please stop by the IT Service Desk located in the back of the Noreeen Falcone Library on the first floor. Our hours of operation during the semester are (during breaks, we are open Monday - Friday: 8AM to 4:30PM):

    Monday - Thursday: 8AM to 8PM
    Friday: 8AM to 7PM
    Saturday: 9AM to 5PM
    Sunday: 12PM to 8PM

Conversations between coaches and students can take place via phone, Zoom, or email. Each coach uses the web product YouCanBook.Me to schedule appointments. In addition, the Student Success Center has created resources for students to help with academic support and study strategies. Currently there are guides available on the following topics: note taking, time management, reading and remembering, and study skills. These are available on the Center's website located at www.lemoyne.edu/Academics/Academic-Services-Support/Student-Success-Center and accessible by students 24/7.

Noreen Reale Falcone Library serves the research needs of the Le Moyne community. The library homepage located at https://resources.library.lemoyne.edu/library provides access to research materials in a variety of formats includin electronic books and journals, online databases, sound recordings, videos, and streaming media. Users can seek reference assistance via email, chat, or phon. 

Assistance is available, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day from the Virtual Reference Service, staffed by librarians from several participating Jesuit college libraries and from librarians who work for LibraryH3lp. Use the “Ask Us” tab on the library home page or go directly via  https://resources.library.lemoyne.edu/askus/by-chat.

IT Service Desk Walk up Requests 

In the event that people cannot visit the IT Service Desk in the Library. The IT Service Desk will be using https://lemoyne.zoom.us in place of walk up requests. To participate you will need a web camera and microphone/phone. If you need to have a support session through Zoom, please schedule one by submitting a request through https://servicedesk.lemoyne.edu

Use Student Resources that are available for support.

Peer tutoring support is available to Le Moyne College students through the Student Success Center, Quantitative Reasoning Center, Writing Center and Accounting. The Student Success Center employs nearly 50 upper-division undergraduate tutors. Graduate students in the physician assistant program have also been hired to support students of that program. The student employees typically provide one-on-one tutoring support via 30 minute or hour-long appointments, but also hold small group study groups as needed. Students can sign up for a tutoring appointment by going to: https://lemoyne.mywconline.com. Students have the option to connect with their tutor through alternative means, i.e., email, phone, and/or Zoom. Sudents can contact the centers directly to discuss their needs. The Centers’ Directors will work with students to set up video conferencing tutoring sessions. Each Centers’ website and email accounts are as follows:
