Le Moyne’s unique personality, our differentiating factor, shines each and every time we write, speak or present about the College. And in today’s media-rich landscape, we are presented with unlimited opportunities to tell our story. But, these unlimited opportunities also present great challenges when we do not speak in a consistent voice and when we present disparate messages.

A strong brand helps us be clear about who we are and what we stand for. It allows us to consistently share our purpose, articulate our mission and describe the College in words and images that reinforce what is unique about Le Moyne College.

We've created these Brand Identity Guidelines to help all our College schools, departments and programs produce materials that are consistent, professional and immediately recognizable as Le Moyne.

Use these guidelines as you plan your advertising, brochures, posters, websites, presentations, and other communications to ensure your creative work reflects and reinforces the Le Moyne College brand. Current materials do not need to be discarded. As new materials are needed, they should be created in conjunction with the vision and elements outlined in this site.

As we explore the Le Moyne College brand, let's first define what a brand really is, and what it is not. When you think of a brand in human terms, a brand, like a person, has an essence, a personality and core values. And just as people are more than superficial styles or outward appearances, a brand is more than a logo, a tagline, or a product.

It’s what the college means to the people we serve. It can range from receiving an education in which you discover, encounter and question the world you know and the world you dare to explore to thousands of service hours working within the communities we serve. Our brand starts with what Le Moyne does and why it matters. It’s what makes us distinctive in a person's mind.

As leaders within the college, our job is to influence those perceptions — and strengthen our brand — by presenting consistent, credible and authentic messages about the college, our people and our accomplishments. Building this strong brand for the college as a whole directly benefits our individual colleges, schools, departments and programs.

 

The brand statement captures the distinctive characteristics of Le Moyne College. It serves as a foundation for consistent, credible messages about the college, our people and their accomplishments. The brand statement should be used as a frame of reference when producing communications vehicles to ensure that they incorporate and reinforce the Le Moyne brand.

 


Each day at Le Moyne College we strive for greatness, always through the eyes of goodness.

Based on a Jesuit tradition that is equal parts passion and compassion, we reach for the highest level of academic excellence, and human excellence as well. We shoot for championship, and live for sportsmanship. We inspire students to think for themselves, and beyond themselves. We teach the skill of achieving success, while instilling the principle of never compromising our values. We prepare leaders who aspire to heroic goals, while always staying true to the Jesuit ideal of helping souls.

From professors to coaches to students to the entire campus community, we believe success and integrity don’t have to be mutually exclusive. At Le Moyne, greatness meets goodness, and one without the other simply is not an option.

 

While the brand platform articulates our core values and provides us a way to focus our communications around a common ideal, not all target audiences share the same perceptions of the college. Our audience groups range from prospective students and parents to faculty, staff and alumni. Our audiences are internal and external, local and global.

The first step in effective communications is to know and understand the audience with which you are communicating. By thoroughly understanding our audience we are able to fully shape our message to meet their needs and be authentic. The following messages have been developed based on solid research with each of these audiences. Therefore, they are grounded in both current beliefs and future expectations, lending immediate credibility.

Our message strategy moves us from one in which we emphasized facts and figures of the past and present to one built on tilling the Le Moyne College story focused on Jesuit values, cutting-edge thinking and meaningful success. This strategy positions Le Moyne as a progressive leader helping to develop the whole person for success in all aspects of life.

 

Based on the perception mapping and quantitative analysis, students will be most responsive to messages that focus on successful graduates, access to education and academic excellence. Secondary messages that are supported with the proper proof points include developing critical thinkers and career development.  Current students will readily endorse and champion the following brand messages:

• Le Moyne graduates have the skills that employers need. They are discerning leaders, critical problem solvers, and daring thinkers ready to excel in today’s global economy.

• Le Moyne’s faculty members prepare students to be the nation’s future leaders through a strong core program, internationally recognized subject expertise and real life experiences.

• Le Moyne graduates transform their success in the classroom to success in their fields of study, making a difference in the lives of each and everyone they touch.

• Le Moyne is committed to providing an accessible education to prospective students.

• Le Moyne College is a leader in providing accessible education to first generation college students.

Based on the perception mapping and quantitative analysis, parents of current students will be most responsive to messages that focus on successful graduates and academic excellence. This was the only group among the six that did not identify any secondary messages that could be aspirational attributes. Parents will readily endorse and champion the following brand messages:

• Through the development of the whole person, Le Moyne graduates are uniquely qualified to address the problems facing our society.
• Le Moyne is an inviting and welcoming community where people are compassionate and accepting.

• Le Moyne students are earning national and international recognition for their academic achievements.

• Le Moyne graduates embrace an entrepreneurial spirit towards life and see magis as a normal part of their everyday approach.

• Le Moyne graduates have the skills that employers need. They are discerning leaders, critical problem solvers and daring thinkers ready to excel in today’s global economy.

• Le Moyne graduates transform their success in the classroom to success in their fields of study, making a difference in the lives of each and everyone they touch.

• Le Moyne is committed to providing an accessible education to prospective students.

 

Our research shows that our internal family of faculty and staff are currently best prepared to value and believe messages about our successful graduates and outstanding faculty.

These messages can be conveyed as follows:

• Through a commitment to our core values of integrity, inquiry and respect, our faculty develops graduates who are prepared and committed to creating a better way of life for all.

• Le Moyne students are earning national and international recognition for their academic achievements.

Our research shows that alumni are currently best prepared to value and believe messages about successful graduates. Messages about the development of critical thinkers are believable, but need specific proof points to create a comfort level for them to embrace and re-communicate those particular messages. These messages can best be conveyed as follows:
