Bosch Center News

Oswego State University’s Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) is hosting an interdisciplinary Faculty Book Club that will meet via Zoom. This is a unique opportunity for our faculty and staff to engage in rich discussions and exchange ideas with colleagues from other institutions on thought-provoking topics in teaching and learning.
This fall the CELT will lead two reading groups that will focus on the following books: Snafu Edu (2025), by Jessamyn Neyhaus, and The Opposite of Cheating: Teaching for Integrity in the Age of AI (2025) by David A. Rettinger and Tricia Bertram.

Participants must provide their own copies of either of these books, but Le Moyne’s Library and Bosch Center resource library will have a limited number of copies available on a first come/first serve basis.
If you’re interested, please email Roula Creighton at [email protected] by September 8th so we can coordinate with the CELT team. View the sign-up form with dates for each of the reading groups for more information.

The Instructional Design and Academic Technology team is excited to announce a diverse schedule of workshops and support sessions designed to get instructors pedagogically and technologically ready for the fall semester. Please email [email protected] with questions about the sessions or your academic technology needs.

The Instructional Design and Academic Technology team welcomes all faculty to a variety of in-person and online workshops to learn the mechanics of accessibility remediation.

Today, many college courses teach about democracy and change, but few courses provide students the opportunity to learn by doing them. The New York-PA '25 Institute (November 8-9 at St. John Fishr University in Rochester) meets this need by providing faculty the necessary training to teach social action.

The registration-free NY-PA '25 Institute will be led by Anthony Siracssa, Assistant Professor of History & Community Engagement at St. John Fisher University, and Scott Myers-Lipton, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at San José State University, who developed a social action course in 2006, and has taught it 30 times. Checkout our website to learn more about our social action model, as well as explore the 40+ Fall 2025 social action courses, along with 60+ student-led campaigns developed this past Spring.

Faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to apply to the NY-PA '25 Institute using this online application form.

The Institute will run from Saturday, November 8th, 8:30 am-4 pm, and Sunday, November 9th, 8:30 am-3 pm; breakfast and lunch will be covered during the Institute. The application deadline is due on Monday, October 27. If November 8-9th doesn't work, please consider applying to one of our upcoming institutes, both in-person and virtually.
