Julie Grossman, Ph.D., professor of English and communication and film studies, appeared at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) on Oct. 17 at the Centenary Celebration of Ida Lupino in Los Angeles to speak about Lupino's landmark work directing postwar American social-justice films. Lupino was the second woman to be admitted to the DGA. A screening of two of Lupino's films, The Hitch-hiker(1953) and The Bigamist (1953), followed.
