An internship is an academic learning experience that provides opportunities for the student to apply knowledge gained through coursework within an organizational setting. Please review Le Moyne College’s
Institutional Internship Policy and Operating Guidelines. These guidelines define an internship for purposes of earning academic credit, set forth institutional expectations and delineate academic standards for academic internships.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) must be on file between Le Moyne College and the sponsoring organization prior to the student enrolling in an internship course for credit. The process for obtaining an agreement (MOU) with an organization to sponsor student interns is described in the policy and operating guidelines referred to above.
Similar to “Independent Studies”, a formal “Internship Proposal Form” is required to be filed for internships where students are not meeting in a classroom setting for regularly scheduled classes during the semester. The “Internship Proposal Form” must be accompanied by a syllabus, signed by the student, faculty mentor, Chair, and Dean and then appropriately filed with the Registrar’s Office and Career Advising and Development Office by the last day to add courses in any given semester.
