Leigh Fought, Ph.D., professor of history and director of the gender and women's studies program, spoke to fourth-graders at Genesee Elementary School about Frederick Douglass, his family and Harriet Tubman on June 6. The fourth-graders were participating in the "Harriet Was Here" program in which they had composed a song dedicated to the two African-American freedom-fighters.
