Ternikar Delivers Talk at SU

Farha Ternikar, Ph.D., of the Department of Anthropology, Criminology and Sociology, recently gave a public lecture at Syracuse University titled Muslim South Asian Immigrants, Intersectionality and Culinary Consumption: Beyond Authentic Curry and Halal Kebobs. Dr. Ternikar’s talk explored the ways in which politics, gender, class and race shape collection consumption. The talk was based on a chapter in her forthcoming book on Muslim South Asian immigrants, Beyond Hijab and Halal. A transcript of an earlier version of Dr. Ternikar’s talk will be published in the August issue Feminist Intersectionalities.
