Professor Bernard Arogyaswamy and Associate Dean Tracy Couto of the Madden College of Business and Economics co-authored a paper titled "Big tech and AI: Powerto, or over, the People." The paper was presented at the 27th Annual Conference on Technology, Knowledge, and Society held at the University of the Aegean, Rhodes, Greece, April 18 and 19, 2026. The paper investigates the growing impact of AI on all facets of modern life (cognition, affect, employment, environmental), and the resultant concentration of power in the hands of a few tech leaders."
