Off Campus Work Study

The OCWS Program is designed to give Le Moyne College undergraduate students the opportunity to work with community based organizations across Syracuse, while earning pay and important skills and experience through their Federal Work Study Award.

Why the Off-campus Work Study Program?
Are you interested in making a difference in your community while gaining the skills and experience needed to help you work towards your career goals? If your answer is “YES” and you are eligible for Federal Work Study funding, keep reading!

The Off-campus Work Study Program offers eligible students part-time paid employment in community based organizations and with select private sector employers across Syracuse. For those beyond walking distance, transportation reimbursement may be available.

Work Study Process:
1. Check your Federal Work Study eligibility through the Financial Aid Office, [email protected].

3. If eligible and interested, consult the Off Campus Work Study job listings on Handshake (https://app.joinhandshake.com/stu/postings).
4. Apply if interested. From there, your application will be reviewed for eligibility/skillset and shared with the associated employer for consideration.

Employer partners involved in the program change frequently and we are always looking for organizations that match our values at Le Moyne and align with your career goals. Working in the program may benefit you by giving you the

The biggest difference is that you are gaining work experience in a professional setting off campus. When reviewing opportunities, it will be important for you to consider workplace culture, appropriate dress, the time commitment required and travel distance.

 Applications are taken on a rolling basis. Check often, apply often, and keep your resume up to date. We recommend working with the Office of Career Advising and Development for a resume review if needed.

You will be paid minimum wage ($15/hour) for a max of 20 hours/week, but no more than the amount you are eligible for through your Federal Work Study Award. In other words, you cannot earn more money than your award. Review your eligibility with the Financial Aid office if you have any questions.
