Jennifer Glancy, Ph.D., chair and professor in the department of Religious Studies, has published an expanded edition of Slavery in Early Christianity. First published by Oxford University Press in 2002, Slavery in Early Christianity was an alternate selection for the History Book Club. A paperback edition was released by Fortress Press in 2006. The expanded edition—also produced by Fortress Press—includes a Foreword by Daniel José Camacho and an Afterword by the author. According to Luis Menéndez-Antuña (Boston University), the volume is “genuinely a classic.” According to Katherine Shaner (Wake Forest University), "Slavery in Early Christianity is both paradigm shattering and the beginning of a new map for Christian scripture studies.”
