Professors Mitchell Franklin and Christie Novak of the Department of Accounting in the Madden School of Business published an article in the Tax Adviser on the importance of data analytics as part of the accounting classroom. The article addresses the history of how accounting programs have used analytics as a crucial part of their work. It also addresses the ways in which programs have innovatived to meet the needs of public accounting firms to integrate the most desired of analytics skills in the accounting classroom, and meet skill gaps commonly cited in academic research. This paper was co-authored by Michaele Morrow at Merrimack College. Tax Adviser is ranked #26 nationally as a tax publication by the Washington and Lee School of Law journal rankings, the source commonly used to rank quality of tax journals.
