Volunteers are now being accepted to join in the John P. Bucki, S.J, Day of Service on Saturday, April 6. The day will also be Le Moyne's contribution to the National Jesuit Day of Service, with alumni participation, which is taking place at Jesuit schools across the U.S.
Following an 8:30 a.m. commissioning at thePanasci Family Chapel, teams of LeMoyne volunteers will depart by chartered buses to 11 off campus sites. There will also be two child and family friendly Behind the Scenes sites on campus. Following arrival at their sites, all Le Moyne community partners and volunteers will do two hours of service and then be retrieved and return to campus in time for lunch at the LaCasse Dining Center. Volunteers withour meal plans are invited to be guests of the DIVE at lunch.
This semester's DIVE will be a response to two of the four priorities for service to the church and the world from Pope Francis' recent reconfirmation of mission of the worldwide Jesuit order, and Ignatian works and colleagues: "To walk with the poor, the outcasts of the world, those whose dignity has been violated, in a mission of reconciliation and justice and To collaborate in the care of our Common Home, our planet Earth.' Those new priorities and directives for Jesuit and Ignatian works and ministries for the next 10 years were announced in Rome in February.
