Attention faculty, staff and administrators: do you know any outstanding undergraduate students who have great leadership potential? We are looking for students who could become strong leaders in the promotion of a culture of respect at Le Moyne College. We are primarily seeking nominations of first and second year students, but also welcome other nominations. Students who express interest will be offered the opportunity to complete a free, evidence-based training curriculum called Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP). The curriculum helps participants acquire skills necessary to become leaders among their peers in taking a stand against all forms of violence, fighting for social justice within oppressed groups, and creating a positive cultural change. Please submit your nominations via this form by no later than Friday, Nov. 30.
Students will walk away from this training with:
- transferable skills and information that will assist them for the rest of their professional and personal lives
- a sense of empowerment around being an active bystander
- the freedom to create intriguing dialogue and programming focusing on prevention of violence
- access to a number of MVP-trained facilitators for peer leadership support
- a certificate of completion and free swag (t-shirts, pens, etc.)
If you have any questions, contact Rochelle Robinson, violence prevention educator, at ext. 4712 or [email protected]. Thank you for your help and stay tuned for more information about this training becoming available to faculty and staff in the near future.
