Submission instructions:

● A student who has won a Newhouse award in the previous year may not submit in that same genre this year
(but may submit in other genres).
● Collaborative authorship is allowed if all collaborators are matriculated Le Moyne students. The award would
be evenly split among the authors.
● Send an email to [email protected] with your last name, the category (Poetry, Fiction, Critical Essay,
Creative Nonfiction, or Play/Script), and the file name in the subject line. Attach your submission as a docx or
pdf file. Do not embed the submission in your email! Your submission will not be acknowledged.
● Students may submit work in a maximum of two categories, but send a separate email for each category.
● In the body of your email, provide: your name (or in the case of collaboration, names) with your student ID#,
address and telephone, title(s) of work submitted, and name of contest category.
● The docx or pdf file containing your manuscript submission must not include your name: instead provide your
student ID number. (Entries will be judged anonymously). Do, however, include the title(s) of your work. If
you submit more than 1 poem (up to a maximum of 4), put all poems in a single docx or pdf file. The same
goes for submitting more than 1 work of flash fiction or flash creative nonfiction (up to 4 in a single file).
● Prose should be double-spaced; poetry should be single spaced.
● Manuscript pages should be numbered consecutively; the contest category should appear on each page.
● Submitted manuscripts will not be returned. Judges will not enter into correspondence about submissions.
● Judges may decide not to award a prize in any genre.
● If instructions are not followed correctly, we may not be able to consider your work.
