Elliott Bazzano, Ph.D., and Jennifer Glancy, Ph.D., both of the Department of Religious Studies, participated in the joint annual meetings of the American Academy of Religion (AAR) and Society of Biblical Literature, held this year in Denver, Colo. As co-chair of the Study of Islam section, Dr. Bazzano chaired a session on "Reimagining Gendered Being in Muslim Discourse"; he co-chaired both a mentoring session for junior scholars in Islamic Studies and a business meeting; and he attended the working session for AAR section chairs. In addition, Dr. Bazzano represented the department at the meeting of Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities chairs of Religious Studies and Theology departments. Dr. Glancy presented two papers, "Translating Biblical Slavery" and "Joseph in Egypt, Hagar in Canaan: Slavery, Linguistic Alienation, and Translation." She also participated in the editorial board meeting for the SBL Early Christian Literature book series.
