Kate Costello-Sullivan, from the English department, presided over the meeting of the American Conference for Irish Studies’s annual conference, hosted by Ulster University-Magee and held in Derry, Northern Ireland, from June 2-5. Keynotes included the President of ireland, Michael D Higgins, and the Irish Ambassadors to both Ireland and the UK.   As president, Kate chaired two panels and ran the executive meeting and the Annual General Business meeting; she also presented on a roundtable on “Irish Children in the Post-Treaty State: What happened, why, and is it over?”  and presented a paper, “Healing, Narrative, and Embodiment in Caitriona Lally’s Eggshells.” Finally, as Syracuse University Press’s Irish line editor, Kate also launched a new book by Patrick Bixby.  Now that her two-year term as President has ended, she begins a two-year tenure as “Past President” to the Executive.
