William Day, Ph.D., of the Department of Philosophy has published an essay discussing how Stanley Cavell's distinctive orientation in philosophy is guided by an interest in those moments where words seem to run out, leaving touchstones of ecstasy. The essay, "Words Fail Me. (Stanley Cavell's Life out of Music)," appears in *Inheriting Stanley Cavell: Memories, Dreams, Reflections*, edited by David LaRocca (Bloomsbury, 2020).
