Associate Professor of History Leigh Fought's book, Women in the World of Frederick Douglass, has been listed as a finalist for the 2018 Harriet Tubman Book Prize. The Tubman Prize is awarded by the Lapidus Center for the Historical Analysis of the Transatlantic Slavery to the best nonfiction book published in the United States on the slave trade, slavery, and anti-slavery in the Atlantic World in 2017.
The Lapidus Center is part of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the New York Public Library.
Fought's book has won also won the New York History Academy's Herbert Lehman Prize and the Society for Historians of the Early Republic Mary Kelley Prize.
