Julie Grossman, Ph.D., professor of English and communication and film studies, has received the 2018 South Atlantic Modern Language Association award for best edited collection for her co-edited volume Adaptation in Visual Culture: Images, Texts, and Their Multiple Worlds (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017). The book, co-edited with R. Barton Palmer from Clemson University, is the flagship volume for Grossman and Palmer's book series Adaptation and Visual Culture at Palgrave Macmillan, which has published 11 books since it was launched in 2016. Grossman and Palmer will receive their award at the annual meeting of SaMLA in Birmingham, Alabama on Nov. 3.
Rebecca Godwin, Chair of the Selection Committee, had this to say about the project:
“Grossman and Palmer’s edited collection reaches across disciplinary barriers to provide a significant contribution to the fields of film and literary studies.
