Yes. Campus health conditions may require that the College temporarily suspend in-person classes or dismiss students from campus. As such, ALL instructors must be prepared to teach ALL of their courses remotely with little or no advance notice.

Importantly, an instructor might be required to quarantine or self-isolate. If they are healthy enough to teach while quarantining or isolating, they may do so remotely.

Vaccination

Collapse All Expand All

Yes. All students – undergraduate and graduate, residential and non-residential – must have valid proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to arriving on campus.

Students who are not yet fully vaccinated (i.e., first dose scheduled; or first dose completed and second dose scheduled) are permitted to return to campus and attend classes. Until they are considered fully vaccinated, they are required to wear a face covering at all times while on campus and get tested twice a week on campus (rapid antigen test; free of charge) OR once a week with a NAAT/PCR test off campus and at their own expense.

Some students have been granted an approved exemption for medical or religious reasons.

Unvaccinated students who are not approved for a medical/religious exemption will not be allowed to check in to residence halls, use campus facilities or attend classes.

People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or two weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson).

Yes. Log in to Echo, click on “Course Roster,” then click on “Visual Course Roster.” Students who have been granted an approved exemption for medical or religious reasons will be indicated by a COVID-19 Exemption code.

NOTE – Since the College is still evaluating requests for exemptions, it will be a few weeks into the semester before all students approvals are coded on the visual course roster.

NOTE – A student’s vaccination status is confidential information and must not be shared.

Instructors are discouraged from talking with individual students about their vaccination status. Under no circumstances are instructors permitted to ask students why they are not vaccinated or act in a discriminatory or otherwise biased manner towards students based on their vaccination status.

Yes. As announced in Dolphin Digest on July 8, all faculty, administrators and staff are required to submit proof of vaccination for COVID-19 at this link by Monday, Aug. 16, the first day of classes for first-year students. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or two weeks after receiving a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson).

Employees who are unable to become fully vaccinated by Aug. 16 should notify the Office of Human Resources at lemoynehr@lemoyne.edu of the date that they expect to be fully vaccinated, which should be no later than Sept. 15.

Employees who do not submit proof of vaccination will be required to adhere to health and safety protocols, which are subject to change and may include but are not limited to the following:

  • wear a face covering at all times indoors unless alone in an enclosed single-occupancy office
  • maintain at least six feet of physical distance from others
  • complete weekly COVID-19 testing with the College testing program or on a weekly basis submit proof of negative PCR test results from external official testing location
  • follow all New York state and CDC regulations pertaining to unvaccinated individuals

Employees who believe they are exempt from the COVID-19 vaccination for medical or religious reasons should contact the Office of Human Resources at lemoynehr@lemoyne.edu.

Screening, Reporting COVID-like Symptoms

Collapse All Expand All

STUDENTS: No. The College does not require health symptoms screening for students using the CampusClear app.

EMPLOYEES: Yes. In order to comply with the New York Health and Essential Rights Act (NY HERO Act), the College requires that all employees complete a health symptoms screening using the CampusClear app the morning of any day they will be on campus.

Students who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms should self-isolate away from others and contact the COVID-19 Office by email at coronavirus@lemoyne.edu, call Health Services at (315) 445-4440, or contact their own health care provider for symptomatic testing. Click here for COVID information from the Wellness Center.

Employees who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms should self-isolate away from others and contact their own health care provider for symptomatic testing for COVID-19.

Faculty or other employees who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms, should NOT come to campus!

Testing

Collapse All Expand All

Asymptomatic testing requirements depend on students’ vaccination status and residential status. Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community.

Vaccinated students – During the first week on campus, all residential students will be tested twice with the rapid antigen test. Non-residential students will not be required to test during the first week. After the initial week, vaccinated students will only be tested on an as-needed basis based on new information and unique situations.

NOTE – More frequent testing of vaccinated students could be considered if we see an increase of breakthrough cases in vaccinated students, if the disease is spreading among a small group of individuals, if cases begin to spike in the surrounding community, or if directed to do so by Onondaga County or New York State public health officials.

College-approved vaccine-exempted students – Students who received an exemption from the College will be required to test, at a minimum, two times a week on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday for the entire semester or until they have submitted valid proof that they are fully vaccinated.

NEW!! COVID Testing Protocol Changing for Rest of the Fall 2021 Semester

Due to the nationwide shortage of rapid antigen test kits, the COVID Office will be making changes to the current COVID testing protocol for the remainder of the fall semester.

Starting Monday, Nov. 15 the COVID Office will be supplementing the rapid antigen surveillance testing protocol with the pooled saliva protocol that was used during the spring 2021 semester. Pooled saliva testing will be performed on Monday and Tuesday of each week. Individuals or groups selected for the pooled saliva protocol will be notified via email. All members of the campus community are eligible for the pooled saliva testing. Learn more about the pooled saliva protocol here.

Rapid antigen testing will still be performed Monday through Thursday, but will only be used for symptomatic individuals, those with a confirmed exposure to a known case of COVID-19, or groups that are requested by the COVID Office to report for testing.

For testing center hours, please visit COVID-19 for the Campus Community.

NOTE - Students who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms should self-isolate away from others and contact the COVID-19 Office (coronavirus@lemoyne.edu), call Health Services at (315) 445-4440, or contact their own health care provider for symptomatic testing. Click here for COVID information from the Wellness Center.

Employees who do not submit proof of vaccination will be required to adhere to health and safety protocols which include completing weekly COVID-19 testing with the College testing program or on a weekly basis submitting proof of negative PCR test results from an external official testing location.

Faculty and other employees may participate in the rapid antigen testing the College is using for surveillance purposes this semester. A rapid antigen test takes five minutes to complete, is administered using a lower nasal swab, and returns test results within 15 to 30 minutes. Testing is performed each week in the Event Center and the hours for each week are posted on COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community.

The College is using the NAVICA app to facilitate rapid antigen testing and for reporting results to individual employees. Prior to arriving at the testing site, please download the NAVICA app and set up your account. The app can be downloaded at either the App Store for Apple or the Google Play Store for other platforms.

During the semester, any interested employee can be tested using the antigen method.

Guidelines:
  • Asymptomatic testing only! If you are experiencing any COVID-like symptoms, you should NOT report to campus. Self-isolate away from others and contact your health care provider for symptomatic testing for COVID-19.
  • If the COVID-19 rapid test comes back as positive and you are asymptomatic, have no epidemiological link to a known/possible case, and disease prevalence is low within the community, the College will confirm (or refer out) the positive with PCR. The positive result always prevails even if a repeat antigen test yields a discordant result.
  • If the COVID-19 rapid test comes back as positive, that result is final and all health protocols for a positive test must be followed. You will not be allowed to get a subsequent test elsewhere to negate a positive test. Any employee who tests positive for COVID-19 must follow HR protocol and follow up with the Onondaga County Health Department and their own health care provider for isolation and medical evaluation, if necessary.

NOTE - Employees who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms should self-isolate away from others and contact their own health care provider for symptomatic testing for COVID-19.

Faculty or other employees who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms should NOT come to campus!

If someone tests positive for COVID-19, regardless of their vaccination status, they are required to self-isolate for a minimum of 10 days. They are also required to work with case investigators from the contact tracing teams of Le Moyne College and/or the Onondaga County Health Department to help identify close contacts who may have been exposed to COVID-19 while the individual was contagious.

An employee who tests positive should immediately report their condition to the COVID office at coronavirus@lemoyne.edu

The COVID office will instruct the employee on next steps as it relates to isolation, quarantine and testing protocols that must be followed.

An employee can contact the Office of Human Resources at LeMoyneHR@lemoyne.edu for more information regarding their pay for their time spent out of work due to their condition.

Click here for the Onondaga County Health Department’s quarantine and isolation protocols.

Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community and read the section describing the College’s Quarantine and Isolation Policy.

If an instructor feels well enough, they may teach their classes remotely during their self-isolation period.

Any instructor who is not able to teach for an extended period of time due to illness should contact their department chair or program director immediately so alternative arrangements can be made.

Any individual who tests positive for COVID-19 must be formally released from isolation by the Onondaga County Health Department or the College’s COVID-19 Office before returning to campus. A formal release from isolation document will be sent to the recovered individual. This document must be presented to the College’s COVID-19 Office (students) or to Human Resources (employees) before the individual returns to campus.

No. Currently, the College is not offering HyFlex instruction. Students who must miss class for illness should follow the Policy on Student Absenteeism in the Event of Illness or Accident, which stipulates that “It is the student’s responsibility to contact his or her instructors, as soon as possible, to explain the absence and make arrangements for the completion of missed work or tests.”

If someone is exposed to an individual who is a confirmed or presumed positive case, they will be contacted by case investigators from the contact tracing teams of Le Moyne College and/or the Onondaga County Health Department. If you are fully vaccinated and asymptomatic, then you monitor your symptoms for 14 days but are not required to quarantine. If you are not fully vaccinated, then you are required to quarantine for 10 days.

Any student or employee who develops COVID-like symptoms, regardless of vaccination status, is required to temporarily self-isolate while awaiting results of a PCR test.

If an instructor feels well enough, they may teach remotely during their quarantine period.

Click here for the Onondaga County Health Department’s quarantine and isolation protocols.

Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community and read the section describing the College’s Quarantine and Isolation Policy.

Isolation is used to separate people infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID‑19, from people who are not infected. Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others.

The COVID-19 Office will notify the Registrar’s Office who will, in turn, contact the student’s instructors, advisor(s), and appropriate others by email requesting that the student be excused from in-person instruction until further notice. The Registrar’s Office is not authorized to release any additional information about the reason(s) for the student’s absence. The COVID-19 Office will contact the student’s instructors if it’s necessary to share more information.

The student is notified when they are released from quarantine or isolation. The student could share this notice with their instructors to confirm they’re allowed to attend in-person classes.

Yes. The COVID-19 Office will maintain a dashboard that reports testing and related data for the College community. Everyone is encouraged to monitor Campus Announce/Dolphin Digest for updates and to sign up for the Heights Alert emergency notification system.

Face Coverings

Collapse All Expand All

Yes, effective 08-03-2021 and until further notice. Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community.

Face coverings are worn to prevent your respiratory droplets from reaching others. Your face covering should fit snugly against both sides of your face and it should cover your nose and mouth. Always wash your hands before putting on your face covering and after removing it!

Yes. The College is making reusable cloth face coverings available to all students and employees. Faculty may request College-provided reusable cloth face coverings from their academic dean’s office.

Everyone should always have at least two face coverings with them. It’s good practice to have replacements on hand because your face covering might end up damaged, misplaced, or uncomfortable due to dampness. Surgical masks and cloth face coverings (both homemade and store-bought) are permitted for on-campus use. However, face coverings with an exhalation/release valve, single-layer gaiter-style neck fleeces, and bandanas should NOT be worn on campus.

Face coverings do not need to be the ones provided by the College. However, they should be face coverings that are approved for on-campus use.

Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community.

No. Face coverings with an exhalation valve or vent release exhaled breath which could contain virus. They do not prevent you from spreading your germs to other people and nearby surfaces. Therefore, the College does NOT permit face coverings that have an exhalation/release valve.

Yes. Disposable face coverings are available for purchase at several Sodexo locations – the C‑Store, Kaffe Nuvo, the Dolphin Den, and the LaCasse Dining Center. Both reusable and disposable face coverings are available for sale in the College Bookstore.

Yes, effective 08-03-2021 and until further notice. Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community.

Remind your students that even for people who are vaccinated, face coverings help to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and non-compliance violates the Dolphin Declaration (Students) and the College’s Community Standards.

If a student who is required under current policy to wear a face covering arrives for an in-person class without wearing a face covering, you should ask them to put one on. If the student doesn’t have a face covering with them, you can offer a disposable mask. Please contact your academic dean’s office if you would like a supply of disposable masks that you can provide to students should they need one. If any of your students persists in arriving for class without a face covering, please contact Student Development (315-445-4525).

If anyone present refuses to wear a face covering and wear it properly, you should take the following steps in quick succession:

  • Remind the student that face coverings help to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the campus community. Ask the student to comply.
  • Remind the student that their non-compliance violates the Dolphin Declaration (Students) and the College’s Community Standards. Ask the student to comply.
  • Ask the student to either comply or to leave the classroom immediately.
  • If the student refuses to comply or leave, you may
    • end class and instead provide that day’s content online asynchronously; or
    • contact Mark Godleski in Student Development (315-445-4525) during regular office hours (8:30 am - 4:30 pm) or the Area Director on call (through Security, 315-445-4444) after business hours for assistance in having the student removed from class.

If you experience difficulties with a student adhering to health and safety protocols in the classroom, you should submit a Student of Concern/EASE referral so the situation can be addressed. (Login to Echo>Course RosteràStudent of Concern Form; OR Echo>Faculty/Staff Resources>Assisting Students>Student of Concern)

If a student is unable to wear a face covering due to a disabling condition, they should contact the Office of Disability Support Services (Roger Purdy, dss@lemoyne.edu, 315-445-4118) to discuss accommodations.

Yes, effective 08-03-2021 and until further notice. The face covering must cover your mouth and nose. Faculty may request College-provided reusable cloth face coverings from their academic dean’s office. You are advised to keep extras with you and/or in your office.

Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community.

No. If College policy requires you to wear a face covering, then you may wear both a face shield and a face covering, but you may NOT substitute a face shield for a face covering.

Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community.

Yes. The Information Technology team will provide personal lapel microphones for instructors who request one. You may submit your request to the Service Desk at servicedesk.lemoyne.edu.

Eating and drinking will not be allowed during class unless a student has received a medical accommodation (see below).

Click here for COVID-19 Information for the Campus Community.

Certain medical conditions may require a student to have something to eat or drink at specific times, including during a class period. For medical accommodations, students should contact the Office of Disability Support Services (Roger Purdy, dss@lemoyne.edu, 315-445-4118).

Social Distancing & Density Reduction

Ventilation, Hygiene & Cleaning

Collapse All Expand All
Yes. If your classroom has operable windows with screens, you should consider opening them less than 2” to increase the fresh air. Opening the windows more may limit the ability for the air conditioner to perform. An open classroom door may also help with air flow.

NOTE: Doors to a corridor must NEVER be propped open, per NYS Fire Code.

No. Students who want to wipe down their desks or tables will need to bring their own disinfectant wipes.

Remind students that fomite transmission can only occur if they touch their face.

Remind students to not touch their face during each class.

Students who have concerns about fomite transmission from desk or table surfaces can direct their questions to coronavirus@lemoyne.edu.

You should practice proper hand hygiene by washing hands for 20 seconds or using a sanitizer before coming to class. If you wish to clean the instructor station, please use the disinfectant wipes provided for this purpose and follow the cleaning procedures for computers and electronic devices developed by the Information Technology team. If the supply of wipes is running low, please alert the Service Desk at servicedesk@lemoyne.edu or servicedesk.lemoyne.edu (login required).

NOTE - Fomite transmission can only occur if you touch your face.

Enhanced cleaning of classrooms will occur once a day, in the evening.
