Keep Working from Home

This checklist is to prepare Le Moyne College employee’s to work from home. Le Moyne College employees are required to have their personal PCs or MACs meet minimum criteria before working remotely on the College’s network.  Employees must complete this checklist before beginning remote work.  The checklist helps with preparing to use a variety of tools, verification that all necessary access has been granted, and your PC or MAC meet all technical requirements.

Ready your Computer gives you the steps to ensure that your personal computer meets Le Moyne’s secure computing requirements.If you find that you are unable to complete any steps below or your PC or MAC does not meet the minimum requirements please contact the Service Desk at servicedesk.lemoyne.edu before beginning remote work.

Use the recommended Internet speed of 10Mbps or higher.

 

If you have less than the recommendations you may still be able to work, however you may experience inerruptions or issues with Le Moyne systems. 

 

Test your internet speed 

 

Follow these recommended specifications for a personal computer.  

  • 7th Generation Core i5 processor
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
  • 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) Display

Use the currently supported operating system.

Your PC should operate on Windows 10 or Windows 8.1

 

Update Windows 10 

Your Mac should operate on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 or higher. 

 

Find out which macOS your Mac is using 

 

Use active and current security software.

Use an account that does not have administrative rights.

Enable 2FA for your Le Moyne Google Account.

Access My Desktop 

 

Note: Every employee has on-campus access to My Desktop when using College computers. Off-campus access to My Desktop is restricted to specific users. Please contact the IT Service Desk if you feel that you are in that category and do not have access.

To contact the IT Service Desk please submit a request to https://servicedesk.lemoyne.edu 

Alternative ways to contact the IT Service Desk (if you cannot submit a request online) include:

  1. Email: If you cannot sign in to submit a request, you can alternatively email [email protected] from your Le Moyne email account or, if you do not have access to your Le Moyne email, a personal email account. When sending a request through email, include a phone number that you can be reached at. 

  2. Phone: As a last resort, you can call 315-445-4579 and leave a voicemail. Note that in the event that the college is operating remotely, this will not be checked as frequently as the IT Service Desk website or email. When leaving a voicemail, include a phone number that you can be reached at. 

IT Service Desk Walk up Requests
In the event that people cannot visit the IT Service Desk in the Library. The IT Service Desk will be using https://lemoyne.zoom.us in place of walk up requests. To participate you will need a web camera and microphone/phone. If you need to have a support session through Zoom, please schedule one by submitting a request through https://servicedesk.lemoyne.edu
